Fresh from the farm to your door. A fish steak, alternatively known as a fish cutlet, is a cut of fish which is cut perpendicular to the spine and can either include the bones or be boneless. Fish steaks can be contrasted with fish fillets, which are cut parallel to either side of the spine and do not include the larger bones. In a stainless steel or glass bowl, combine garlic, olive oil, basil, salt, pepper, lemon juice, and parsley.

  5. Take 1/4 cup soy sauce
  6. Take 1/8 cup water
  7. Take 1/2 cup cooking oil

Try this fish steak recipe using Mackerel or Tuna fish, some soy sauce, lemon juice and onions! A very simple fish recipe that is done in a jiffy! Serve it with some beans or rice or both! Mackerel (or Tanigue in Filipino) is perfect for this fish steak recipe.

Instructions to make Fish Steak:
  1. Heat the oil in a non stick pan and fry the sliced boneless milkfish until the color turns to brown. Flip to fry the other side of the fish.
  2. Remove the fish from the pan after frying and discard the used cooking oil leaving only 1 tablespoon of oil to cook the garlic until it turns light brown.
  3. Pour-in the soy sauce, water and lemon juice then stir. Put back the fried milkfish in the pan.
  4. Add onion as well as salt and pepper to taste. Stir then cook for 5 minutes don't forget to flip the milkfish. If dries up, you can atleast 1/8 cup of water.
  5. Finally, transfer to a serving plate. You may also add chopped parsley and onion leaves on top.
  6. Ready to serve and ENJOY!

Serve it with some beans or rice or both! Mackerel (or Tanigue in Filipino) is perfect for this fish steak recipe. But tuna can also be a good substitute. 😉 Although some use bangus (milkfish) for this recipe, I would rather not. Tanigue Fish Steak ala Bistek is the fish version of Filipino Bistek Tagalog. The fish, which are fish steaks, were rubbed with salt and then fried until golden brown.
